Alegre and Financial Transparency
Each year, Alegre steps back to reflect on our work, taking stock of what we’ve learned and accomplished in order to accelerate our impact in the year to come. A landmark year for Alegre, 2019 was one in which we saw the start of operations in the Dominican Republic.
- Establishing a partnership with and becoming the primary grantor of the Dominican organization Cultura Viva Foundation.
- Launching the Cultural Center project in partnership with Cultura Viva.
- Launching the Educational & Community relief program Noche de Cine Gratis in partnership with CV, which has positively impacted over 12 thousand kids and adults.
None of this would be possible without our team—from capable staff with the experience needed to tackle the Dominican Republic’s greatest challenges to partners serving as sounding boards, mentors, board members, advisors and ambassadors. We could not be more grateful for your support.
We consider financial transparency to be our duty to donors, partners and those we help. Responsible and ethical use of generously donated funds is Alegre's top priority. Here are some of the main ways Alegre ensures responsible and ethical use of funds.
  - Thorough vetting and quality control built into our grant consideration process.
- Dedication to keeping operational costs to a minimum to ensure all possible funding is used to help the Dominican people.
- Detailed monthly financial and progress reports required from all grantee organizations, including media documentation.
- Annual independent audits of Alegre's financial activity to ensure financial transparency is crystal clear.
